Game 3: "No, China, You're Not Invited": (5/6/09)

It's come to our attention that there are other countries in the world besides America (yeah, WTF?). And it's also come to our attention that these countries have people living on them (crazy, right?)

Anyway, we're rambling here. America just happens to fall into a small category of countries that all share this characteristic:

Sovereign Countries Of The World That Start & End With The Same Letter

We can't make this round any simpler (other than having you name a country). Think very carefully before you submit an answer. And we'll keep the country borders open from now until Sunday, May 10th, 2009 at 11:59PM.

Remember, send an email to ListocracyBlog@Gmail.com to submit your answer. Or check out the "How To Play" post for more info.

Don't let the Border Patrol harass you.

Not Down And Out Yet...

To the two or three people who followed this blog, I apologize that I have not updated this blog. But I hope to get back into it really soon. Like now.

First, some results. The winner of "Spinnin' An Origin" was Chris with "The X-Files", and the winner of "Festive Frenzy" was Hayley with "Memorial Day". There. Now that that's out of the way...

The game will remain the same. All of the rules remain intact. It's just a new face lift.

If you need to refresh your memory on the rules, click here. Otherwise, check back later today for a brand new round.

Game 2: "Festive Frenzy": (12/23/08)

The results to the previous round will be posted soon. In the meantime, we're happy to present a new round. Here we go...

The December holiday season is in full swing. People are doing their last minute shopping, and it's quite fun to watch them scramble around, trying to find the most perfect gift for that special someone (for under $20).

When you sit down and think about it, there are many holidays that occur during the year. Each one has its own special theme. But when you boil them all down, most holidays are pretty much the same. Now, before the Almighty Force From Above smites us down, let's reveal the Round Topic for this week:

Holidays That Can Occur On A Different Date Each Calendar Year

Christmas, for example, falls on December 25 every year without fail (except when the country is in a financial crisis). Easter, however, falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after March 21. So "Easter" would be an acceptable answer, except it's not anymore cause we just gave it.

We're looking for holidays that are widely known and celebrated. So you need to defend your answer no matter which holiday you give. We are the Judge, Jury, and Executioner.

This round is open from now until Friday, December 26th, 2008 at 11:59PM

Let's Get Celebrating!

Game 1: "Spinnin' An Origin" (12/15/08)

We here at Listocracy are brimming with excitement for our first round. But lest we forget where are roots are.

What many people do not know (unless they read our previous post) is that Listocracy was first played in 2003 at Newton North High School in Newton, Massachusetts. Listocracy enjoyed a very nice run there, thanks to the dedication of our fans.

What many MANY people don't know (unless they have some mind-reading device), is that Listocracy is a spin-off of another game that was also played at Newton North called Donut Survivor (don't ask, unless you really want to know). Donut Survivor first started out at Lexington Christian Academy in 2002 and made an absolutely successful run at both schools. Listocracy was a round that was featured as one of the Immunity Challenges for Donut Survivor.

So... we thought it would only be right to start off our run on the Interwebs by introducing this Round Topic:

Television Shows Which Produced A Spin-Off

That's right. The thing about TV is that, especially now, if producers can find another way to make money off of one small, tiny, miniscule thing from one TV show, they will. So we want you to recall TV shows that have had a spin-off (or spin-offs), past or present. For your answer to count, you need to name the "host" show, and not the spin-off itself (though you are more than welcome to write that in for extra credit, which subsequently won't count towards anything), unless the spin-off produced a spin-off (which has happened before).

We are opening up the airwaves to your answers. Remember to submit only ONE answer per 24 hour period. And because this is our premier, we're going to keep this Round Topic "on the air" till Saturday, December 20th at 12:01AM. That should give you more than enough time to come up with some great answers.

Submit your answer to ListocracyBlog@gmail.com, and be sure to put in the subject line the name of this post ("Spinnin' An Origin"). If you have any questions about how to play, read the post "How To Play" or send an email.

Please spread the word about this site to as many people as you can. We don't want to get cancelled (like Joey *shudders*).

How To Play

Welcome to Listocracy, the game where your opinion matters... somewhat.  Listocracy is a very easy game to learn, and pretty simple to play as well.

When a new round starts, a Listocracy topic will be given.  All you have to do is submit an answer that fits into the topic.  It's that simple!  Well, almost.

To win the round, you must submit the last original correct answer.  Confused?  Let's take a look at an example:

Let's say the topic is Colors.  Now let's look at the answers that were submitted for this round.
1. Red
2. Blue
3. Orange
4. Turquoise
5. Red
6. Gorilla

To score this round, we simply look for the last original correct answer.  In this case, the winner for this round would be "4. Turquoise".  Why?  Well, "Gorilla" is not a color (at least, not yet...), so that answer is eliminated.  And although "Red" is a real color, that answer has been duplicated (#1 and #5), therefore making that particular answer not original.  AND, even though Turquoise is a shade of blue (or green if you're like that), blue and turquoise are two different answers (as well as different colors).  That leaves "Turquoise" as the last original correct answer.  Get it?  Don't worry if you don't.  We will walk you through it in the early stages of this blog.

To submit your answer, send an email to ListocracyBlog@gmail.com.  Unless you tell someone, no one playing will know what answer you submitted.  Likewise, you won't know what answers have been submitted, much less how many have been submitted.  Listocracy rounds will generally last about 4 days or so.

You may submit multiple answers to a round.  However, heed this warning:  you may only submit one answer per 24 hour period.  Thanks to the power of technology, our judges can keep track of not only how many answers someone submits, but also at what time they are submitted at.  If you submit two or more answers within the 24 hour period, both answers will be disqualified and will not be counted in that round.  So keep tabs on yourself.  'Cause we'll be keeping tabs on you.  Dum Dum DUM!

When the round is over, we'll tabulate all the answers and post the winning answer on this site, as well as all the answers that were received in the order that they were submitted (with their proper judgments and ridicules).

Keep in mind that some Round Topics will be open-ended, so many answers will be available for you to create and submit.  Other times, Round Topics will have a specific number of answers to keep you on your toes.

We really hope you enjoy this game.  It's very exciting to bring this game back and in new form since its last appearance at Newton North High School in 2003.  Please contact us at ListocracyBlog@gmail.com with any questions or comments.  Spread the word to all of your friends, because the more people we have participating, the better Listocracy can become!
